Mike Falcone's bio
I know that true health is so much more than the lack of disease, it is allowing the full potential of your body, mind, and spirit to shine and radiate through your entire being. Chinese medicine is the perfect vehicle for aiding this process as its ability to diagnose underlying patterns of imbalance before they manifest in symptoms allows real preventative medicine to take place.
My wife, Fields, and I moved back to Memphis in 2009 so that I could begin operating a sliding-scale clinic where patients could get quality acupuncture treatments for a price that could fit into their budget. Amazingly, this has proved to be something needed and I am grateful to the Prudhomme/ Aime household for hosting the Midtown clinics and to Shady Grove Presbyterian Church for hosting all the rest. These clinics were borne out of a sense of community and I am excited to be able to work in this way.
Prior to coming back to Memphis, I worked with the Fertile Soul from 2007-2009, an organization dedicated to helping couples with fertility challenges through lifestyle changes, acupuncture, and Chinese herbalism. Under the expert tutelage of Dr. Randine Lewis, I was able to work with many women and men from around the world at retreats here in the US and through phone consultations. I am grateful for her creative insight, inspiration, and fertile guidance in helping to move people towards their balanced centers.
I studied acupuncture and Chinese medicine at the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Deigo, CA. I studied a broad range of course work taught by an amazing group of teachers. My major concentrations were in acupuncture for internal medicine, orthopedics, pain management, and mental-emotional disorders, as well as classical Chinese herbology and Asian therapeutic bodywork.
During my school program, I was given the opportunity to work at Rady’s Children’s Hospital, San Diego, in the Hematology/Oncology unit treating pediatric patients (both in- and out-patient) with Chinese Medicine. I provided acupuncture and therapeutic massage (tuina) to children in the Chronic Pain program as part of the Integrative Medicine unit there as well. In the downtown San Diego free Chinese Medicine clinic for seniors I was able to work with stroke victims, Alzheimer’s patients, and a varied group of geriatric patients.
I hold a Master of Science of Traditional Oriental Medicine (MSTOM) as well as a degree in Oriental Body Therapy (OBT). I am nationally licensed as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (Dipl.OM) by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and am a licensed acupuncturist in the state of Tennessee (LAc).
